From October 21st to 30th, 2025, our company conducted demulsifier jar test experiments at Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). This experiment is the first task for applying to become a qualified supplier of KOC. This experiment was mainly focused on the demulsifier additive for crude oil dehydration experiments from GC7 (Gathering Center) and GC1 in the SK oilfield. 

Considering the on-site working conditions, demulsifier dewatering experiments were carried out on our company's fast-acting demulsifier and normal demulsifier.

During this experiment, our company made thorough preparations. Taking into account the compatibility of laboratory equipment and the on-site working conditions, our company first transported the experimental equipment to Kuwait. 

At the same time, we dispatched experienced engineers to ensure the smooth progress of this experiment.

Considering the properties of SK crude oil, we focused on screening phenolic-aldehyde and phenolic-amine products. Through on-site technical exchanges, we further determined the demulsifier additive for crude oil.

Through a series of screenings and comparative experiments with the products used on-site, our company's products (Fast-acting demulsifier & normal demulsifier) are comparable to the on-site products in terms of both the demulsifier dewatering rate and the BS&W value.

Fast-acting demulsifier is used in FWKO for dehydration and normal demulsifier is used in Three-phase separator for dehydration.


For Normal Demulsifier: these separators are working in a two-phase separation configuration with the total liquid stream going to the wet tanks with a typical 4-6 hours residence time for the oil and 2-3 hours for the water which provides the necessary oil water separation efficiency.


For Fast Acting Demulsifier: these separators are working in a three-phase separation configuration with a 5-10 minutes residence time.

In the application of demulsifier, BS&W is the abbreviation of "Bottom Sediment and Water" or "Basic Sediment and Water". The significance of BS&W in demulsifier lies in that it is an important indicator for measuring the demulsifier dewatering effect. The main function of demulsifier is to destroy the stability of emulsions, separate the oil-water two-phase, thereby reducing the BS&W content in crude oil. Excessively high BS&W content in crude oil can affect the quality and transportation of crude oil, increasing the risks of pipeline corrosion and equipment wear. 

By using demulsifier to reduce the BS&W content, the quality of crude oil and economic benefits can be improved.
