Polyacrylamide emulsion
Polyacrylamide emulsion is a form of liquid polymer which is divided into two types of products: CPAM emulsion & APAM emulsion. The following is a detailed introduction to it:
1. Production process:
--The main raw materials are the solution of acrylamide solid dissolved and acrylic acid solution. The pH is adjusted by liquid alkali, then the initiator is added and the ice machine is used for temperature control to prepare the aqueous phase.(Anionic polyacrylamide emulsion production)
--Adjust the temperature inside the reactor to the appropriate range. Generally, based on the reaction characteristics of cationic polyacrylamide emulsion and DAC, the temperature can be controlled between 30--60°C. The precise control of temperature can be achieved through the jacket of the reactor or the built-in heating/cooling device.First, add the AM into the reactor and turn on the stirring device to make it evenly dispersed inside the reactor. Slowly drip DAC,the dripping process should be uniform and slow to avoid uneven reaction or side reactions caused by locally high concentration. The dripping time can be determined according to the size of the reactor, the amount of materials and the intensity of the reaction.
Generally, it is about 30 minutes--2 hours. (Cationic polyacrylamide emulsion production)
--The oil phase is prepared by emulsifying white oil with emulsifier.
--The aqueous phase and the oil phase are mixed in a certain proportion and then sheared. The initiator reacts again. Finally, the reverse demulsification is carried out with the demulsifier to obtain polyacrylamide emulsion. This process does not require a drying link.
2. Characteristic advantages:
--Fast dissolution speed: Compared with solid polyacrylamide, the polyacrylamide emulsion form can dissolve in water faster and CPAM emulsion& APAM emulsion can generally dissolve in about 15 minutes.
--High charge stability: Under different environmental conditions, the charge stability of polyacrylamide emulsion is better and polyacrylamide emulsion can play the role of flocculation more effectively. --Good flocculation effect: Through the polar groups in the molecular chain adsorbing suspended solid particles in water, bridging or electrical neutralization between particles forms large flocs, which has a significant removal effect on suspended solids in sewage.
--Wide applicable pH range: CPAM emulsion&APAM emulsion can be used in a wide pH range and has a good treatment effect on sewage with different pH values.
--Convenient to use: There is no need for a complex dissolution operation process. CPAM emulsion&APAM emulsioncan be used directly or after simple dilution, reducing dust pollution and improving the working environment.
3. Application fields:
--Water treatment field: Cationic polyacrylamide emulsion&anionic polyacrylamide emulsion widely used in the treatment of various domestic sewage, chemical wastewater, oilfield sewage and sludge dewatering treatment, etc. CPAM emulsion&APAM emulsion has a particularly good effect in the flocculation and sedimentation of organic suspended solids in acidic or slightly acidic sewage.
--Paper industry: Used as a retention and drainage aid, it can improve the quality and production efficiency of paper and is also used for the treatment of papermaking wastewater.
--Petroleum industry: Anionic polyacrylamide emulsion&cationic polyacrylamide emulsion can be used as an emulsion coating agent or deoiling agent for drilling, which helps to improve the efficiency of oil extraction.
4. Storage and precautions:
--Storage conditions: At room temperature, the storage period in a closed container is generally 6 months. The optimal storage temperature is 10--27°C. The polyacrylamide emulsion should not be frozen, otherwise the performance of cationic polyacrylamide emulsion will be affected. When stored in small barrels, it is necessary to pay attention to regular turning and shaking to achieve full mixing and prevent layering. When stored in large containers, an agitation device should be installed for regular agitation to ensure full mixing.
--Use safety: Contact personnel must wear protective equipment when using. The skin contact area should be washed immediately with clean water. The operation site should be cleaned in time to prevent slipping and falling.
--Use process: It should be shaken well as much as possible before use. During the dissolution operation, add CPAM emulsion & APAM emulsion while adding water. The recommended dissolution concentration is controlled at 1-5‰ and the ripening time is preferably about 15-25 minutes. When transporting, avoid using high-shear rotor pumps such as centrifugal pumps. It is best to use low-shear pumps such as screw pumps and diaphragm pumps.
