Anionic PAM Emulsion For Sewage pretreatment

Anionic PAM emulsion, also named sewage PAM emulsion is made by acrylamide with other chemicals by homopolymerization production. The solvent of sewage anionic PAM polymer is white oil, which is named an emulsion product.

Anionic PAM for sewage treatment is a key product in the whole process and is used in the pretreatment process in order to remove the SS value.


Sewage PAM emulsion has two advantages compared to the anionic PAM for sewage: 

1.PAM emulsion for sewage is easily soluble in water. Sewage PAM emulsion just needs 20 minutes to be completely soluble.

2. Emulsion sewage anionic PAM polymer has no dust. Sewage PAM emulsion is a type of emulsion form which is injected into the soluble device by a pump.

There are many kinds of anionic PAM for wastewater, among which the differences lie in the molecular weight and anionic degree of anionic PAM for sewage. PAM emulsion for sewage is always used for wastewater treatment and oily sludge treatment. Anionic PAM for wastewater is a chemical additive widely used in plants and oilfields.

When using sewage PAM emulsion in water treatment, it is of great importance to record data such as the "optimal dosage" (the amount used when the turbidity is the lowest), the "settling speed" (the time it takes for the flocs to drop 10 cm), and the "COD removal rate of the supernatant" (to evaluate the adsorption effect on soluble organic matter). 

In other processes, the following data are mainly recorded: 

Sludge Dewatering using sewage PAM emulsion: Measure the "solid content of the filter cake" (the target is usually > 20%), the "dosage per ton of sludge" (a core cost - related indicator), and the "filter cloth cleaning cycle" (to reduce downtime losses). 

Oil Displacement in Petroleum using sewage PAM emulsion: Test the "solution viscosity retention rate" (a retention rate of ≥ 70% after 24 hours at 80℃ is considered qualified) and the "core displacement efficiency" (measure the increase in crude oil recovery through simulated core experiments). 

Dissolution Energy Consumption using sewage anionic PAM polymer: Although emulsion sewage anionic PAM polymer dissolve quickly, products with a high solid content (such as 30%) require more water for dilution. If the local water and electricity costs are high, it is necessary to compare the comprehensive costs of "low solid content + low dilution cost" and "high solid content + high transportation cost". 

Storage Losses: Emulsions have a short shelf-life (6 months). If the usage amount is small and the turnover is slow, small sized packages (such as 25 kg/barrel) should be selected to avoid expired demulsification.

Synergistic Effects: When compounded with inorganic flocculants (such as PAC, FeCl₃), the dosage of  sewage anionic PAM polymer can be reduced by 30%-50%. It is necessary to calculate the total cost of "APAM + inorganic agent" instead of just the price of a single agent. 

In the "customized selection" for special scenarios, the following are the main characteristics:

Food Wastewater (such as starch, fruit juice): It is necessary to select "low residue" PAM emulsion for sewage (acrylamide monomer content < 0.02%, in line with the GB 17514 standard) to avoid toxic residues. 

Papermaking Wet End (Neutral Sizing): When the pH is 6-8, products with "medium anionic degree + medium molecular weight" are preferred. This can ensure adsorption with calcium carbonate fillers while avoiding excessive flocculation, which may lead to a decrease in the evenness of the paper sheet. 

Shale Gas Drilling: It needs to withstand high temperatures above 120℃. Select "temperature and salt resistant" Anionic PAM for sewage (introduced with amide groups or cyclic groups), and at the same time, the viscosity should meet ≥ 50 mPa·s (at a 1% concentration).
