APAM Powder Flocculant

China APAM powder has many types of APAM powder and the difference of China APAM powder lies in the molecular weight and anionic degree of APAM wastewater.

APAM for sludge and APAM for sewage are commonly used for wastewater treatment and oily sludge treatment. The APAM wastewater treatment process is a chemical additive widely used in plants and oil fields.

The chemical formula of APAM wastewater treatment is (C3H5NO)n and the appearance of APAM wastewater treatment is white powder. The solid content of China APAM powder is 90%, the molecular weight is 12~14, the density (25°C) is 0.75g/cm3 and the pH value (1% aqueous solution) is 6~8.

When using APAM for sewage powder (China APAM powder) in combination with inorganic flocculants (such as PAC, PFS, etc.), the dissolution conditions of the agents must be strictly controlled. 

Use clean water (avoid water containing impurities or strong acids and alkalis) for dissolution, and the concentration of sludge APAM powder is usually controlled at 0.1%-0.3% (mass ratio). When dissolving, sprinkle the sludge APAM powder slowly into the water and start stirring simultaneously (rotation speed 100-300 r/min) to avoid agglomeration (agglomeration will lead to incomplete dissolution and waste of the agent). 

The dissolution time should be 30-60 minutes (adjusted according to the molecular weight, higher molecular weight requires longer time). After dissolution, let it stand for a while to avoid the influence of bubbles on dosing. For solid inorganic flocculants (such as solid PAC), the dissolution concentration is generally 5%-10%, and liquid products can be diluted directly. 

When dissolving, note that the dissolution process of some agents (such as PFS) is exothermic, so avoid high temperature splashing. Add the agent after stirring until it is completely dissolved to prevent undissolved particles from blocking the pipeline. In terms of the dosing sequence, the principle of "inorganic first, organic second" should be followed. If the sequence is reversed, China APAM powder will adsorb the non destabilized colloids first, preventing the inorganic flocculant from effectively neutralizing the charges and thus reducing the flocculation effect. 

The dosing interval between the two needs to be determined through jar tests, and it is generally recommended to be 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Excessive inorganic flocculant will cause the colloidal particles to carry opposite charges again (charge reversal), resulting in stable dispersion instead. Excessive China APAM powder will wrap the particles with molecular chains, forming "colloid protection" and hindering the growth of flocs. The sludge flocs produced by the combined use are denser, but attention should be paid to the dewatering performance of the APAM for sludge (such as optimizing the moisture content of the sludge by adjusting the ratio of agents). 

If plate and frame filtration or centrifugal dewatering is used subsequently, the filtration resistance of the sludge should be tested in advance to avoid difficulties in dewatering due to the overly dense structure of the flocs.

Due to the requirements of international environmental protection policies, Sludge APAM powder have grown greatly. Our technical team visited the West Asian customer (Kuwait) in May 2023 and carried out APAM for sludge & APAM for sewage using China apam powder at the site of the customer's company, achieving breakthrough test results.
