Cationic PAM for water treatment, also named cationic PAM, is widely used in dewatering and is easily soluble in water.

Cross-linked CPAM polyacrylamide polymer powder is a high molecular CPAM polyacrylamide polymer that forms a three dimensional network structure through chemical cross linking. The molecular chains  of CPAM polyacrylamide polymer carry positively charged groups (such as quaternary ammonium groups) and it exists in the form of powder. This material combines the charge neutralizing ability of cationic PAM (CPAM) with the high stability of the cross-linked structure, and is widely used in fields such as water treatment, papermaking, and petroleum. The network structure of PAM powder formed by cross-linkers such as N,N'- methylenebisacrylamide significantly improves salt resistance (for example, maintaining flocculation effects in high salinity sewage) and shear resistance (suitable for high speed centrifuges). Thanks to the unique charge characteristics and three dimensional structure of PAM powder, cross-linked cationic PAM powder has become a key material in fields like water treatment and papermaking. 

Optimizing the performance of PAM powder requires balancing the ionic degree, molecular weight, and cross linking density. At the same time, attention should be paid to environmental protection regulations and cost control. With the development of green technologies, biodegradability and intelligent applications will become important future directions, promoting the efficient and sustainable utilization of this material in a wider range of scenarios.

For the dehydration of food waste, cross linked cationic PAM products with a cationic degree of 50%-70%, a molecular weight of PAM powder is 10-12 million, and a cross-linking density of PAM powder for water treatment of 0.03% - 0.05% is mainly preferentially selected. When combined with ferric chloride (with a dosing ratio of 1:3-1:5), the cost of the agents can be reduced by 15%-20%. When used in high shear equipment (such as a centrifuge), cationic PAM products with a high cross linking density (0.05% - 0.08%) are required to avoid the breakage of molecular chains. At the same time, the cationic PAM powder degree should be ≥ 50% to maintain the charge neutralizing ability.
