Cationic CPAM emulsion is a high-efficiency flocculant for wastewater treatment in oilfield and refineries. Especially in refineries wastewater treatment, after a long treatment processes, using cationic CPAM emulsion to treat the excess sludge is a key link in the whole treatment processes.
Oilfield emulsion or refineries about cationic CPAM emulsion is a type of cross-linked polymer which has a good filtration performance in the dewatering process.
The oilfield CPAM is easily soluble in water and just needs 30 minutes to dissolve completely. Compared to oilfield CPAM powder products, cationic CPAM emulsion has another advantage: no dust.
Because the polyacrylamide emulsion CPAM oilfield composition contains white oil that makes the cationic CPAM emulsion have stable performance.
Compared with powder CPAM, the polyacrylamide emulsion CPAM has a more efficient capture ability. The core reasons are as follows:
Faster Dissolution and Dispersion: The oilfield CPAM in the emulsion is pre-dispersed in the medium. After being added to the sludge, it can dissolve without long-term stirring. The molecular chains of emulsion CPAM oilfield unfold rapidly, reducing the re-stabilization of particles that are not captured in time due to dissolution lag.
Higher Active Contact: The particle size of the polyacrylamide emulsion is small (usually from a few microns to tens of microns), which increases the collision probability with sludge particles. Charge neutralization and bridging occur more promptly.
Lower Risk of Local Excess: Powder CPAM is prone to form "high -concentration lumps" due to uneven dissolution, resulting in local excess of oilfield CPAM (which instead makes the particles positively charged and repel each other). However, the emulsion is uniformly dispersed, avoiding this problem and ensuring the stability of capture.
The core logic of the cationic polyacrylamide emulsion in capturing sludge particles is as follows:
The cationic groups neutralize the negative charges of the sludge particles (breaking the repulsion), and the long-chain molecules adsorb and bridge to connect multiple particles (forming floc nuclei). Finally, large flocs are formed through floc aggregation (completing the capture). The dispersibility and rapid solubility of the emulsion form further enhance the efficiency of charge neutralization and bridging, making the capture process more efficient and stable. This process is crucial for "solid - liquid separation" before sludge dewatering and directly determines the subsequent dewatering efficiency (such as filtration rate and moisture content of the filter cake).
