Oil and water well acid treatment (acidification) is to inject one or several kinds of acid liquid or acidic mixture through the wellbore into the formation and use the dissolution and etching effect of the acid on the rock cementing materials or the plugging materials in the formation voids and cracks (such as iron oxide, ferrous sulfide, clay), to restore or increase the permeability of the formation voids and cracks, so as to make a kind of process measure to increase the output of oil and gas wells or to increase the injection of water injection wells.

Cationic Acid Thickener is mainly suitable for low-permeability carbonate reservoirs. In the process of the development of acidification technology, the application of the new type of cationic acid thickener focuses on reducing the corrosion of the acid on the pipeline and equipment, controlling the reaction rate of the acid-rock, improving the acidification effect, preventing formation pollution and reducing the construction cost.

The core contradiction of drag reducing agent lies in the conflict between the demands of "drag reduction" and "sand carrying". Excessive pursuit of drag reduction (low viscosity) will lead to insufficient sand carrying capacity, causing the proppant to settle. Over emphasizing sand carrying (high viscosity) will increase the pumping resistance, resulting in a sharp rise in energy consumption and even making construction impossible. 

The best solution is to adjust the rheology through compounding (such as a combination of a drag reducing agent and a viscosity increasing agent), increasing the low shear yield value while maintaining a low viscosity at high shear. Within the critical concentration range (for example, the PAM concentration is 0.1%-0.5%), as the concentration increases, both the drag reduction rate and the sand carrying capacity increase simultaneously. 

Beyond the critical value, the viscosity increases sharply and the drag reduction rate decreases. The type of drag reducing agent should be selected according to the particle size of the proppant (coarser sand requires a higher viscosity), well depth (deep wells require temperature and shear resistance), and flow velocity (a lower flow velocity requires a higher yield value).
